
On the occasion of the posthumous tribute given by the Mayor's Office of Ibagué to the composer Cantalicio Rojas González, Mundo Sonoro had the pleasure of receiving the visit of Mrs. Edith Rojas, granddaughter of the composer. It was a special moment to remember the valuable contribution of this popular singer of great roots in the musical memory of Tolima, who was born in Colombia, Huila, and after having developed most of his production in the municipality of Natagaima, he achieved national recognition for his originality as a singer of the Cali tradition and for his rescue of the Tolima’s cane, ancestral indigenous air.

For being of cultural interest, we publish with the authorization of the family, the parchment of Decree 1000-0490 of June 18, 2024, which grants the posthumous distinction to the great Cantalicio Rojas González, who will celebrate on November 19, his 50th anniversary of death in Ibagué.
