charla internacional desde el Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino
En el mes internacional de los museos, compartimos con toda nuestra comunidad la sesión del ciclo de programas Descifrando la música precolombina conducido por Claudio Mercado y José Pérez de Arce donde se exploran los diferentes instrumentos y sonidos de pueblos indígenas de Latinoamérica. En esta oportunidad Mundo Sonoro y su director comparte el patrimonio sonoro indígena colombiano, junto a Kike Pinto, investigador musical peruano desde México.
Adicionalmente para los interesados compartimos el capítulo correspondiente del libro compilatorio producido por el etnomusicólogo José Perez de Arce desde el Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino

Cantatierra special guest at 39th National Colombian Music Festival

The Tolima Theater was the stage for a new performance of the Cantatierra Group on March 20, 2025, this time as a special guest of the 39th National Colombian Music Festival. With the cast formed by María Eugenia Arteaga, Pilar Cuevas, Amira Barreto, Nubia Mafla, Daniel Viña and Humberto Galindo (director), Cantatierra offered the audience a sample of their most recent production Memoria voz y Canto, dedicated to the work of Cantalicio Rojas González. The presentation highlighted the use of original instruments such as the Colombian Bordón, tiples, bandolas and guitars, supported by the percussion of traditional tambora, the cienpies and the carraca.
Cantatierra 40 years: A reunion

The reunion of Grupo Cantatierra on the stage of the Museo de Arte del Tolima, on December 14, to celebrate their 40 years of artistic career, caused great excitement in the audience. The cast was as follows: Pilar Cuevas and María Eugenia ARteaga 8 sopranos and percussion); Amira Barreto and Nubia Mafla ( altos, violin, tiple, bandola and percussion); Iván Fernández and Humberto Galindo ( tenors, guitar, bandola, flute) and , Daniel Adolfo Via and CArlos Pardo ( Basses , guitar, snare). During their performance, works by composer Cantalicio Rojas González and Christmas songs by Daniel Viña, Nubia Mafla and Jorge Humberto Jiménez were heard. Mundo Sonoro & Alfonso Viña collection in Vive Tu Museo program

On October 3 at 6:30 p.m. in a Youtube Live virtual transmission, the program Vive Tu museo (Live Your Museum) will be held, with the Mundo Sonoro and Alfonso Viña Calderón collections of Ibagué as guests. A mosquito in the museum: The piece of the month

Casa Museo Mundo Sonoro is pleased to celebrate the arrival of a new instrument to its collection. It is the Jarana mosquitotraditional chordophone from the state of Veracruz, Mexico, which receives its name for being the smallest of the family.

Ibagué, musical city: Presentation from the Academy of History of Tolima

Within the framework of the permanent Seminar that the Academy of History of Tolima has been developing, in which music has had several sessions, the lecture Ibaguè, musical city, was presented by the musicologist Humberto Galindo Palma. Remembering Cantalicio Rojas González:The Great Tolima's greatest jugglerl

On the occasion of the posthumous tribute given by the Mayor's Office of Ibagué to the composer Cantalicio Rojas González, Mundo Sonoro had the pleasure of receiving the visit of Mrs. Edith Rojas, granddaughter of the composer. It was a special moment to remember the valuable contribution of this popular singer of great roots in the musical memory of Tolima, who was born in Colombia, Huila, and after having developed most of his production in the municipality of Natagaima, he achieved national recognition for his originality as a singer of the Cali tradition and for his rescue of the Tolima’s cane, ancestral indigenous air..
Mundo Sonoro receives certification of the Colombian System of Museums SIMCO

Mundo Sonoro successfully achieved its updating process before the Colombian System of Museums SIMCO. Thus, after fulfilling the requirements of existence, Mundo Sonoro obtained its respective certification of recognition in November 2023, with a validity of three years.

Academy of History of Tolima grants membership to Mundo Sonoro's director

The Academy of History of Tolima, within its policies of renewal of members by merit-based competition, has made last March 2024 in the Auditorium of the Dario Echandia Library its most recent call and election, among whom was included as a new academic member the director of Mundo Sonoro, musicologist Humberto Galindo Palma

Revealing the pianola roll Tango Azul ,by César.A. Ciociano: the piece of the month

La Colección Mundo Sonoro se suma a la celebración internacional del día de los Museos bajo el lema “Museos por la educación y la investigación” revelando las fuentes documentales que conserva entre sus archivos de un ejemplar original del rollo de pianola Tango Azul del compositor italiano César Augusto Ciociano. Gracias a la investigación adelantada por Humberto Galindo , sobre la vida y obra de este músico fue posible la recuperación de esta interesante pieza musical, cuyo soporte es un rollo de pianola grabado en Perú alrededor de 1930. y distribuido en Lima por la tienda de distribución de vitrolas, discos, rollos y música de piano “El Fonógrafo” de M.A. Ponce.

Visiting to the MIM Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix
